People have a natural inclination towards material things. We pride ourselves for our intellect, but it is not our intellect that keeps us warm and fends off our enemies, for a man without tools can’t hope to survive any more than a waterlily without water. The objects we once made now make us who we are, and thus value them and fight for them. However, not all objects are worth the same to two people, and what is of great value to a Northerner might be useless to a Dothraki, Therefore, with more objects than people in the known it would be silly to discuss a single object more than it is necessary. In this book we will shed light onto those objects that shape our world the most, those with the power to give and take life.
